Seasons and weather:
The season in Diani are divided based on Short and Long rains with corresponding Dry seasons. Located close to the equator, weather varies very little over the course of the year. With average temperature all year long around 30 C or 86 F, and eight hours of daylight, Diani enjoys an absolutely perfect year round environment. Whilst April and May are consistently the rainiest months, even the rain cooperates and rarely lasts more than an hour or so.
Minimum Stay Details:
Appreciating that many of the people come to stay with us are taking a short break from Nairobi and balancing the workload for staff, the minimum stay is two nights with no maximum.
Accommodation information:
In line with our activities to maintain a restful environment and maximize local community acceptance, we have a strict policy of no more than six guests.
Please Note:
- Lalapanzi is not a party house, we have a zero tolerance policy for any behaviour that will put or even has the potential of putting us into conflict with our neighbours. Lalapanzi is for friends and families who want to take a break and enjoy each others company in a beautiful setting.
- Lalapanzi has a resident dog and is dog friendly. Please refer to our Dog Policy below.
The house has three bedrooms all of which have en-suite shower facilities. Each bedroom comes complete with a queen size bed, bedding and mosquito nets. Furthermore, all windows are mosquito proofed for added comfort.
The three bedrooms are built as self-contained pods attached by walkways to the common area and kitchen.
All pods have Lamu ceilings seamlessly incorporating beauty and functional security and can be locked and secured individually. Bathrooms are light and in each one, stained glass windows from recycled glass and famous Kitengela glass provide a rainbow of vibrant colour across the mazera sink surrounds and shelves.
The three bedroom pods and kitchen pod are brought together in the common area with it’s high vaulted roof and view out onto the comfortable verandah with Funzi furniture for lounging on and swimming pool. The common area provides a comfortable nook for relaxing, reading or playing chess while sitting in hand crafted salvaged African Olive wood armchairs and couch. In addition there is an area where one can catch up on all the news – the entire house has Wi-Fi available with prior request and is completed by a beautiful Dhow wood dinning table and benches.
The kitchen pod is complete with gas stove and fridge as well as Dhobi or laundry room. The kitchen is complete with all the dishes, utensils, pots and pans needed to serve up a meal of freshly caught seafood.

Security:
For many visitors to Kenya the issue of security is of concern. To this end the house is located within a secure compound and each bedroom pod can be secured independently. Furthermore each bedroom has an alarm as well as the kitchen that are directly connected to a national security company who enjoy an excellent reputation for professionalism. Beyond this there is a night watchman who patrols the compound from sunset to sunrise.
It is worth noting here that Benjamin has been the night watchman since the house was first built in 1997 and in the intervening years there has not been a single incident.
Whilst this does not preclude the potential of a security incident, we believe that our strong policy of community acceptance and involvement goes a long way towards maintaining our continued security.
